North Ferriby Utd 1 v Ebbsfleet Utd 0 Fa Trophy Q/F Att 610 ( Pretty Green )

8 oclock start for me to get to Buckshaw Parkway Bus replacement from Bolton Engineering Works,im meeting Calvin and his dad Richard. No Gordon Johnson today or Jamie Lowe the latter suffering a dose of man flu Jamie would of loved this evenly matched contest the longer it remained Nil Nil his jokes about midweek trips to Kent would of been endless.Calvin negotiated the easy task of the M62 to arrive in Ferriby for 1:30 wed left Euxton about 11.30. Our intentions was to rub shoulders with John Rudkin and the rest of the Villagers in their clubhouse, and for me to give Ferribys Manager the rundown on Ebbsfleet who id seen last week at Gosport Borough.Hed already done his homework and had Adam Cunnington and Danny Kedwell on his Radar. He thanked us and headed off to prepare his team for the task ahead. We had a good chat with John and the gang and also had time for Pie n Chips in replacement for Jamie Lowes Sausage Rolls. We decided to sit this time with Richeys dodgy Knee from his Playing career and witneesed the warm ups Richey had the more youthfull Ebbsfleet as his pre match favourites. Me i have to say having witnessed Ebbsfleet last week have this as a Draw my reasoning both teams have similar styles of play albeit Ferriby are more direct i cant seperate them, add also the laws surrounding Lucky Al.With a 2 legged Semi Final coming up this is the last chance of a replay and being such a distance to tackle midweek it had a touch of certaintiy about it .So much so  id already Researched train times from Manchester to Northfleet in Kent just in case.We hadnt realised that the game nearly didnt go ahead and it was only with the help of a band of Ferribys Finest including the Chairman who worked their socks off to Maintain John Rudkins proud boast of “Ferriby dont do postponements” to ensure the game went ahead. The 1st half was just shaded by Ebbsfleet and we witnessed the first goalkeeping error of Ferribys Adam Nicklin in 5 games ,thankfully it went unpunnished and Adam recovered to be at the peak of his game for the remainder. Both teams were solid at the back and at Half Time it was Nil – Nil ( i hate being right )

In the 2nd half Ferriby rode their luck a bit Ebbsfleet hit the bar and post from the dangerous Cunnington but this wasnt a one sided affair with Ferribys Russell Fry rattling the woodwoork with a free kick. Both teams had defended really well and we coulnt see anyone scoring we were fearing the worse and Calvin asked some Fleet fans travelling times from Manchester to Kent .we was so convinced lol but then with 86 minutes on the clock Referee Ross Joyce intervened hed seen an elbow in the Ebbsfleet box and awarded Ferriby a penalty not only that hed sent Ebbsfleets 6  Kenny Clark off aswell. So here it was Liam king of Ferriby up against Fleets Preston Edwards with our hopes of no long distance midweek trip to Northfleet.I Barely couldnt watch as i willed the ball in the net ( well after 5 games you cant help supporting the team youve been paired with and as John Rudkin Says were Honouray Villigers now ) King duly beat Edwards to send the Ferriby players and fans wild ( theyd lost in this round last season ) but not before Kedwell blazed high over the bar with the goal at his mercy, ive seen Danny Kedwell  a couple of times before and was sure hed score the equaliser and send us to Kent midweek. But Ferriby got their noses in front and again proved they dont surrender a lead lightly to progress to the Semi Finals to face either Torquay Utd, Bath or Dover who replay or Halifax or Wrexham who are a round behind ill update you tomorrow where were heading . Farnborough v North Ferriby Utd Fa Trophy 3rd Rnd Att 391 ( Show of Strength )

Sorry guys late entry ( does anyone read this anyway ? ) It was an early start Saturday to meet Calvin and Gordon Johnson ( hes a referee you know and an accessor too ) at Euxton for the long journey to Farnborough. A proper cold wintery but sunny day ideal for Football ,no sign of the predicted bad weather thankfully.Turns out Gordons a bit OCD like me all the games hes officiated a listed with a programme or teamsheet from each, We have not swapped lists but ive seen him ref Bert Trautmans recent testimonial at Prescott Cables and with both of us over 300 grounds theres probably more.Hes a decent fella and a good laugh for a Wigan fan hes well known in the refs circles and conventions also the P.F .A hey Gordon :  ) its nice to have a referees opinion at a game . Farnborougn dominated the 1st 15 minutes of this playing some neat football creating a couple of chances that fell to LouieTheophanous but step forward Adam Nicklin ferribys outstanding keeper who thwarted him both times. He proceeded to keep Farnborough ot all game we had Adam down as our Man Of the Matcb and having seen him now 4 times hes not put a foot wrong or should i say glove. Hes been instrumental in the Villagers cup run making crucial saves in every game. But this isnt a one man show the team as a whole are well drilled and work hard for each other. Theres no Superstars in this team just honest grafters who ive said before give them a lead and something to huld on to and they will to a man.Big and Brutal was Farnboroughs managers description Big yes Brutal no only in the way they will punish you if you drop your gaurd. Which is what Farnborough duly did, for all their early endevours they conceded on 19 minutes what id call a typical Ferriby goal. Tom Denton scoring a header at the near post from a Fry cross.Farnborough responded but Nicklin made a fine save to deny the captain LLoyd Foot from 6 yards out . Again Ferriby punnished farnboroughs wasted chance when Denton Flicked on a Fry corner at the near post to Ryan Kendall who headed in at the far 2 nil Ferriby and i ask the question have Farnborough really done their homework? The 2nd half was really controlled by Ferriby who i think limited Farnborogh to just one shot of note, The home side then decided to copy Ferriby and go more direct this im afraid is meat and drink to the villagers and manfully closed the game out with a mixture of experiance and fine tactics stifilling the mid field won Ferriby through , I have to say Ferriby have a touch of Calvins Everton Joe Royle era Dogs of War. With me being late with this the draw has been made for round 4 and we / North Ferriby are at home to Ebbsfleet of Kent or Braintree of Essex, I say we because you cant help feeling part of it having watched the villagers progress in this competition. ill update you as to who wins the Braintree replay to see who our next opponents are see you later olly.

North Ferriby Utd 2 Hyde 0 Fa Trophy Rnd 2 Att 265 ( Lippy Kids )

Happy New Year Fa Trophy time again 3 mins past 10 TransPennine Express M/cr – Buckshaw Parkway to meet Calvin. Destination Ferriby up the top of the M62.Its a quick hand shake Wishing happy new year and we,re off no need for Sat Nav this should be auto pilot been here 3 times now,Its blowing a gale we should have sails we would get to Brough even quicker.Yep weve got Jamie Lowe for company again . Nowt to do with Butties and a Brew and his legendary Sausage Rolls ( Honest ) Were in Brough for oneish again Jamies in the process of moving house and i think weve helped him dodge boxing up for an hour and half, mind you with this freezing cold wind blowing a force ten down Grange Lane he probably wishes hed stayed packing. We arrived at the ground about 2.30 pm and armed with the customary programmes a coffee and 2 oxos we decided to take shelter in the stand opposite the dug outs. Where we was to be joined by Hydes travelling army who in good voice reminded us Shit Ground One Stand ,shit ground one stand. And then a voice “Calvin Wade and The Casual Hopper” it was a local Trev Cunnington who recognised us and was carrying the book another saturday and sweet fa and wanted our autographs ( Wahey Fame At Last ) he was talking to Calvin and was present at a game Cals dad played in Scunthorpe v Skelmersdale we thanked him just as the Hyde lot were engaging in banter not with the Ferriby Crowd who arent very vocal but the 4 Ball Boys behind Ferribys Goal ( Lippy Kids ) were giving as good as they got.The first half was evenly balanced and Hyde were defending really well and Ash Timms in their Goal was playing well too. The gale which was blowing towards the Humber Bridge wasnt helping matters and at half time it was nil nil we couldnt help thinking Hyde didnt exploit the wind something we knew North Ferriby would in the 2nd Half.Half time brews purchased and a chat with Jason St Judes  ( Ferribys left winger ) other half we headed back to the stand sure enough Ferriby had the majority of the 2nd half Timms making fine saves from Denton and Kendall, as ferriby pilled on the pressure we sensed it wasnt going to be thier day and end up with another replay. This was great amusement to Jamie as Hydes dogged defence and Timms heroics kept the score Nil Nil. But just when wed give up hope of a goal up popped Tom Denton with a looping header from a free kick over Timms and in at the far post.Hyde did try to push for an equaliser but as we have found previosly watching North Ferriby they Know well how to hold on to a lead and settled matters at the death with Kendall pouncing after good work from King to curl a beuty past Timms for Ferribys 2nd. In fairness Ferriby played the conditions and the better footall and deserved to progress in to the 3rd round. So will we back back at Ferriby do we sample Jamies Sausage Rolls again ? or are we on our travels ? Theres some hard miles ahead Torquay are in the hat as are Dover,Dartford and Ebbsfleet or do we get a near one Fcum are still in with a replay at home to Cals Chorley or could it be my old friends Altrincham ? we will Know Mi Day tomorrow , ill up date you who we have in the last 16 cheers Olly Share / Follow RT

Boston Utd 0 North Ferriby Utd 2 Fa Trophy 1st rnd Replay 16/12/14 ( The Bitterest Pill )

Late again but ive been ill of sorts raging toothache and a bit of man flu. Well the first game set us a right conundrum it Looked like Calvin couldnt make the replay with his wife Alisons work commitments. Thered be No one to look after his Lads so id spent most of Sunday Searching routes back to Manchester I couldnt escape Boston – Nottingham,Nottingham – Derby,Derby – Sheffield 1hr and Half stay and then Sheffield – Manchester arriving at 04.45 from 21.37 oh forgot to say has youve probably worked out getting to Bostons a doddle Mcr – Notts – Boston . Told Jo being back in Manc at 04.45 i might aswell go straight to work Her reply was whatever everyone knows your daft what you trying to prove ? youve been to the first game. Now Children thats not in the Equation The Trophy would not be complete OCD and all that lol so that was the plan . We Neednt have worried Calvin texted me Late on Sunday to Confirm a Neighbour Jake wrote himself in to Calvins next book as he agreed to Referee sorry look after Brad and Joel . Fantastic plans were made and id finish work at 3 and Calvin would pick me up from our house at 15.45 Tuesday we set off at 16.00 for the 300 mile round trip to York Street Boston. The Journey went without much delay other than the notorius jam on the A57 as we approached the Woodhed Pass . We only lost 10 -15 mins and arrived in Boston unscathed at 19.15 just enough time to get the Programmes and get something to eat before the Teams were out in the cold Night Air i said to Calvin^ could you imagine the cold in January for the next round if Boston win^.As ive said before theres no loved lost between these two and Bostons Fans are the same in their dislike of Ferriby . I think the Boston lot who were in the League not to long ago think they shouldnt be rubbing shoulders With the likes of Ferriby never mind being in the same division, The truth of the Matter be it for whatever reason They are And Should Get on With It. There were few chances in an Ill Tempered first half the 2 best chances falling to Bostons Tempest who hit a superb dipping volley which Nicklin in Ferribys goal produce a cracking save to keep it out.Just before half time Newsham hit an angled drive that was pushed away superbly again by the Ferriby keeper who is fast becomming a hero in this leg. Half Time 0-0 This was looking like Extra time and Penalties i told Calvin he nodded in agreement ,The 2nd half continued most the same niggly tit for tat and Boston constantly pumping the ball high up the middle with no effect . Its Funny how Boston had addopted Ferribys perceived approach lol it dosent always go route one to Tom Denton you know. And then on 72 minutes a Goal Boston you say not a chance Ferribys back 4 dealt with everything Boston threw at them and a long clearance found their left winger St Juste in space and he sped away to round Dixon in the Boston goal to score .Boston threw everything at Ferriby but served up the procession of high balls which Ferribys towering center halves aided by Tom Denton when needed swallowed up the ref even found 5 mins injury time to help Boston but they couldmt find the inpiration or nouce to penetrate Ferriby and it was the Visitors with sub Kendall scoring the 2nd and securing the tie and Hosting Hyde on Jan 10 . No such trouble arranging travel if there happens to be a draw lol.Right thats me done Just time to wish anyone whos reading this A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year RT Follow Share

North Ferriby Utd 1 Boston Utd 1 Fa Trophy 1st Rnd ( Dig your own Hole )

Ha ha late again Oliver ( must try Harder ) Apologies i had it wrote up this morning but just as im about to post the computer shut down and wiped it. Right here we go again Saturday Morning short train trip to Buckshaw too meet Calvin  whos driving again Eta Brough 13.00 hrs to have lunch with Jamie Lowe whos decided to come with us to this one. ( stupid Boy Pike ! ) sub zero temperatures had this non league novice panicking that the game would be played, The power of Twitter informed me that North Ferriby dont do Postponements underlining what ive said often before Non Leagues empthasis is to get the Game on and if one does fall foul it wont be for the want of trying let me tell you. We arrived at grange lane 2.30 ish got our programmes and bumped in to the match officals and one in particular Mr Micharl Salisbury todays Ref who just so happens to be Brad and Joels Calvins lads school Teacher . He said Joel had said hed see his Dad Saturday and was stunned me and Jamie arent cos weve become accustomed to Calvin having some form of connection at some ground or other lol im convinced some hot dog seller will reveal himself to be some relative or ex school or Uni Colleague at some stage. No sooner had we took position near the touchline tea bar we were underway i have to say the 1st 20 mins was a niggly affair and we couldnt help thinking there was previous between these two. Calvin commented that Mr Salisbury needs to book someone to stamp his authority on the game and calm the sides down. The first half was a bit non descript apart from Ferriby hitting the post . Boston upped the tempo in the 2nd half and i have to say Ferribys Tom Denton was well Marshalled by Bostons number 6 Carl Piergianni throughout . This was a tight game and i had thoughts of a replay on Tuesday night ,we tend not to mention this outcome in case we curse it . We needent have worried as on 67 mins Newsham scored for Boston who to be fair were just shading it in our opinion. But Ferriby were not to be outdone and Jamie Yates smacked the bar.We told Jamie in the Majority of games theres a turning point and this was no exception a trip in the area by Ferribys Hone rewarded Boston with a Penalty and with him being the last man he had to be sent off ,Mr Salisbury was a busy man and aquitted himself brilliantly. The resulting Penalty taken by Scott Garner was superbly saved by Nicklin in the Ferriby goal. And theres your Turning point the Ten Men put up a spirited final flurry and scored on 89 mins Kendall deseredly equalising for Ferriby Jamie was in raptures where me and Cal needed a goal any goal but it wasnt to be and to be fair a draw was a fair result Todays attendence was 321 and a decent coach load brought up by Boston swelled the numbers . So We have a Replay Tuesday at Love Street to Decide whos at Home to Hyde on January 10 thatll be interesting a couple of Norherners one a Manc in the Home end well see you Wednesday with my report cos this ones played to a finish on the night could we be dealt extra time and penaltys to decide this tie cos i cant seperate em .

North Ferriby Utd 6 Mickleover Sports 2 Fa T 3rd Q Att 220 (Hymn From the Village )

Apologies if ive used the song before but with North Ferribys Nickname the Villagers it sort of fits. Well it was a short trip to Buckshaw Parkway to meet Calvin and his son Joel for our journey up the M62 towards Hull, Joels with us as punishment for some misdemeanor ? I wish my old fella had punnished me with away football trips in the 70s lol. We also had a Eta of 1 oclock to arrive at his old uni friend Jamie Lowe and his wife Amy for Gammon sandwiches and a catch up as they live quite close to North Ferriby. Jamies a Forest fan and Amys Hull Jamies waiting for Forests resurgance itll come one day im sure Football comes in Cycles i firmly believe ,anyway you cant be to despondent with 2 European Cup wins . We arrived at the Lowes bang on time and the Brew and butty was fantastic the time flew and it was time to set off for Grange Lane as i remember the Villagers home being called, when i visited in Easter 2008 Whitby thevictorious visitors 4-1. I recall it being Freezing and there was a couple of Snow flurries. It was a bit nippy when we arrived wed come threw thick Fog ( yes that stuff again ) that was miles back at Huddersfield Halifax. We paid in had a couple of pictures Joel declined the View from the corner flag pic with his dad ( probably uncool at his age ) 12 lol.On purchasing the Programme i noticed Jon D’Layrea on the Teamsheet and pointed him out to Cal and Joel ive seen him for Gainsborough in non league aswell as Citys Youth and Reserves. We had a chat with Mickleovers press officer he wasnt confident and told us theyd lost one of their bes strikers to holiday commitments. It baffled me and Calvin that youd pick in season a holiday at any level of football even fans dont book em or even Weddings lol. The 1st half was largely insignificant Tom Dentons Goal on 17 mins and a fine effort from Nathan Jarman flashing wide for North Ferriby apart but we have to say Mickleover were not phased or overawed ,they play some neat stuff without an end product perhaps our Holiday Striker may of added that spark. H / T 1 nil to North Ferriby The 2nd Half was amazing Karl Demhidi equalised from the spot  for Mickleover Ferriby replied immediately That man Denton headed in at the far post ( he really is a handful ) and Ferriby use the tall striker to his full advantage in fact wed hardly settled when Denton headed on for Jarman to make it 3 -1 to Ferriby ,we thought thats it now Ferriby will take full control how wrong we were Anthony Griffin smashing a terrific shot in for Mickleover after 65 mins. So 3-2 to Ferriby could we witness a draw and revisit Mickleover ? No because Ferriby did it again the goal of the game a slick 4 man passing move leaving the lively St Juste to tap in 4-2 Ferriby still Sports didnt throw the towel in Strong Ferriby defending thwarted their threat and on 84 mins Tom Denton secured the game and the match ball by racing half the length of the pitch to slot Ferribys 5th.Ryan Kendall scored in injury time to wrap up a thourghly deserved Ferriby win . So were on the North Ferriby Utd bandwaggon for the 1st round proper and the entry of the Conference big boys and we could be anywhere in the now open draw . Ill update where were heading tomorrow .

Mickleover Sports 3 v New Mills 1 Fa Trophy 2nd Qual ( Do it Again ) Att 88

Well there we was now here we are back at Mickleover yep me n Calvin met at Buckshaw for our revisit to the Raygar Stadium. For this Replay well technically its not a replay but you know what i mean. I have too say at this point that im constantly reminded how good non league clubs are its something that sticks with me and one of the reasons i do my Groundhopping. Because on the afternoon of the game Armiie Paul Armstrong Asst Manager New Mills offered us a lift on the Team Bus to Mickleover ive only met him twice but how goods that, im only sorry that we had other arrangements and had to decline his offer. We had a great journey down and didnt really hit any traffic at the blackspots Calvin had highlighted ( Rush Hour M6 Stoke/Derby ) we arrived approx five past seven in good time paid in and headed for the Tea Bar cos we was starving we managed to obtain two cups of Minestrone yep Ministrone and not the watery stuff either propper thick ( No Bovril at the Raygar :  ) and a £ 1 each aswell you wouldnt get that pitchside in the PL although for a Fiver youd probably get it corporate pre match starter lol. The only downside was the double chicken burger deal was off menu today but we made do with cheese burgerd instead. We had a mooch and found Armie in the clubhose had a chat and spotted Mickleovers press officer whos name escapes me (apoligies ) the gate for Saturday was 204 he informed us , We noticed on kick off that this evenings gate was considerably less and also apart from the front page the matchday programme was the same but hey Saturdays is a collectors item if you add the Fa Cup run we,d waited 16 ties for a replay and surpassed that with an abandonement .(Stick that up your Giant Killing Adventure ) . The officals were the same and Miss Rashid got us underway and as in the first game New Mills set about getting at Mickleover from the off they certainly had no fear and were full of confidence from their showibg in the aborted tie.Ahmadi the New Mils dangerman was very lively throughout the first half aided by the fit again Dougie Pringle. we have too say apart from a couple of chances to the home side it was all  New Mills Calvin commenting Mickleover looked out of sorts. Pringle and Ahmadi got in a tangle  and Ahmadi shot narrowly wide of the post on the 35 minute from a throw in the ball fell to Hopper (no not me lol ) Ryan the hardworking New Mills Midfielder who fired in a shot which the keeper touched has it flew in to the net ,it was no more than New Mills deserved.Mickleovers Nico De Giralomo scored the equaliser on the stroke of half time and there seemed to be some infringement we couldnt see properly from our position with players being in the way but the New Mills fans at half time said the ball was headed out of their keepers hands in fact i remember Miss Rashid remonstrating with Danny Caldecott that his keeper didnt have full control of the ball and the goal stood. Ht Micleover 1 New Mills 1.The second half was much tighter and we commented New Mills looked good for a draw which would allow Cal to visit New Mills and give us a unique set of 3 games to settle 1 tie. it wasnt to be however as on 52 mins Jordan Ball tapped in to an open goal after neat work down the left.Ashley the New Mills keeper pulled of a fine save from a free kick 4 mins later to keep his side in it. And the 88th minute Shaquille Clarke had a stinging shot saved and from the resulting corner Pringle impeded his own number 6 and the chance came to nothing. New Mills threw every body forward to salvage a draw and got caught out Mickleover raced forward and Dales provided a simple tap in to make it 3 – 1 to Mickleover slightly flattering i may add. I said farewell to Calvin and decided to take Armie up on a lift back with New Mills as itd of been a bit of a push getting back to Manc with Cal.I seem to remember Mostonian the coach company provided travel for Oldham Athletic at one time and id actually travelled on one of their coaches in 1987 when City got promoted at Bradford City so a bit of Nostalgia. Pauls Generosity didnt end there he gave me a lift in his car back too Failsworth and invited us to a New Mills game in the future which i think Calvin will be eager to do.So onwards and Upwards to North Ferriby as the Jinx is on the Micleover bandwaggon i know whos money Garry Marsdens on .

Mickleover Sports v New Mills Fa Trophy 2nd Q 15/11/14 (you.re not alone )

Alright gang this should bring us up to date a return some 5 years later to the Mickleover sports stadium or should i say the now sponsored Raygar Stadium . yeah last time i think sports hosted Lincoln Utd in the Evo Stik South. Ive also seen sports this season when ticking off Tividale they ran out  impressive 3 -1 winners that day and i remember having a good chat with their press officer Phil Matthews before the kick off , I bet he didnt expect to see me again this quick although he is aware of my mission /exploits in the fa cups. Anyway ive got company today Calvins back and rejuvenated and hes in for the long haul so it was a trip to Buckshaw Parkway to meet him for the journey to Derby . Along the way Calvin decided to attempt to do a book on this Trophy cup run he said itd be a triology with us attempting the Fa Vase next season ,events were to make it impossible not to do a book so read on .we Arrived at the Raygar well in time just after 1 oclock paid in and had a drink in the sports club which impressed Calvin as it doubles as the cricket club ( bloody Cricket again ) actually the ground is not to dissimilar to Stourbridge or Stocksbridge with a boundary fence seperating the 2 codes . we had a walk around the ground and got my customary photos and headed for the tea bar Calvin noticed in the programme we had a Lady Referee Lisa Rashid thats a first for us both he also noticed a blast from our past FA Cup Journey Mr Matt Landregan who played and scored Against Burscough for Radcliffe Borough.I told him the Danny Caldecott connection aswell . Wed just been served at the tea bar when Phil Matthews popped up he shook our hands and said ^how have you got here Trains , Planes ,automobiles ? ” they know me too well this lot now one day im gonna fly in in a Helicopter thatll stun em ;  ). We had a chat about New Mills and he expected a good game . Id highlighted a couple of New Mills players to Calvin Porya Ahmadi being one of them and how the Millers start like an Express Train and on the front foot from the off. And with the game only about 2 mins old New Mills were one up Ahmadi with an assured finish . ( i love being right ) Mickleover had quite a height advantage but to their credit theyre not route one and like to play football. They pressured New Mills on several occasions but never really hurt em ,with 10 mins left of the 1st half brilliantly reffed by Miss Rashid by the way, we noticed a distinct drop in temperature and by our half time walk to the tea bar there was quite a bit of Mist forming Calvin was going to utter a thought and i interupted dont say it . As the 2nd Half kicked off 5 mins late it was quite foggy and the 2 guys who turned out to be an ex management duo at Coalville Town were dubious as to wather they game should continue, it was quite bad cos we couldnt recognise or see who scored Sports equaliser from our spot near the Halfway Line . It was getting worse and on 66 mins Miss Rashid called a halt on proceedings . She said to the Non League Paper even though both goals were visible from the touchlines the assistant Referees could make or see a decision so she had no alternative too Abandon it. So there You have it if you include the fa cup run weve gone 16 ties without a replay but weve surpassed that with an abandonement as Carla a friend of mine commented on social media ” is this a new type of Jynx * So Wrer back Tuesday the 18th and im up to date cos the draw for the 3rd qualifiers been made and the winners will be away at North Ferriby United . Ive Been There Lol ;  )
