Apologies if ive used the song before but with North Ferribys Nickname the Villagers it sort of fits. Well it was a short trip to Buckshaw Parkway to meet Calvin and his son Joel for our journey up the M62 towards Hull, Joels with us as punishment for some misdemeanor ? I wish my old fella had punnished me with away football trips in the 70s lol. We also had a Eta of 1 oclock to arrive at his old uni friend Jamie Lowe and his wife Amy for Gammon sandwiches and a catch up as they live quite close to North Ferriby. Jamies a Forest fan and Amys Hull Jamies waiting for Forests resurgance itll come one day im sure Football comes in Cycles i firmly believe ,anyway you cant be to despondent with 2 European Cup wins . We arrived at the Lowes bang on time and the Brew and butty was fantastic the time flew and it was time to set off for Grange Lane as i remember the Villagers home being called, when i visited in Easter 2008 Whitby thevictorious visitors 4-1. I recall it being Freezing and there was a couple of Snow flurries. It was a bit nippy when we arrived wed come threw thick Fog ( yes that stuff again ) that was miles back at Huddersfield Halifax. We paid in had a couple of pictures Joel declined the View from the corner flag pic with his dad ( probably uncool at his age ) 12 lol.On purchasing the Programme i noticed Jon D’Layrea on the Teamsheet and pointed him out to Cal and Joel ive seen him for Gainsborough in non league aswell as Citys Youth and Reserves. We had a chat with Mickleovers press officer he wasnt confident and told us theyd lost one of their bes strikers to holiday commitments. It baffled me and Calvin that youd pick in season a holiday at any level of football even fans dont book em or even Weddings lol. The 1st half was largely insignificant Tom Dentons Goal on 17 mins and a fine effort from Nathan Jarman flashing wide for North Ferriby apart but we have to say Mickleover were not phased or overawed ,they play some neat stuff without an end product perhaps our Holiday Striker may of added that spark. H / T 1 nil to North Ferriby The 2nd Half was amazing Karl Demhidi equalised from the spot for Mickleover Ferriby replied immediately That man Denton headed in at the far post ( he really is a handful ) and Ferriby use the tall striker to his full advantage in fact wed hardly settled when Denton headed on for Jarman to make it 3 -1 to Ferriby ,we thought thats it now Ferriby will take full control how wrong we were Anthony Griffin smashing a terrific shot in for Mickleover after 65 mins. So 3-2 to Ferriby could we witness a draw and revisit Mickleover ? No because Ferriby did it again the goal of the game a slick 4 man passing move leaving the lively St Juste to tap in 4-2 Ferriby still Sports didnt throw the towel in Strong Ferriby defending thwarted their threat and on 84 mins Tom Denton secured the game and the match ball by racing half the length of the pitch to slot Ferribys 5th.Ryan Kendall scored in injury time to wrap up a thourghly deserved Ferriby win . So were on the North Ferriby Utd bandwaggon for the 1st round proper and the entry of the Conference big boys and we could be anywhere in the now open draw . Ill update where were heading tomorrow .
