New Mills v Mossley Fa trophy !st Qual 1/11/14 (Holiday in the Sun )

Well here i am again and its another revisit Church Lane .New Mills a ground i first visited some 9 years ago with Oldham Town now Boro . It was when i completed the Nwcfl and Town won 2 – 1 I know unbelievable for them too cos New Mills were a decent side and fancied to do well wit Ally Pickering as Manager.he guested for MCFC Legends in our Charity Game. Also its one of only 2 times ive won owt at a game .i won the half time raffle and had the choice of A Millers home shirt or a bottle of Wine i chose the wine for Joanne not realising back then this obsession would kick in.The other time ive won was a name card while travelling away somewhere with Ashton United theres an Ashton Utd connection here today with Danny Caldecott being the Millers left back . I arrived early as usual got me pictures and went for a brew and some lunch i opted for the Pork and Apple Burger which was fantastic ( i do like it when the tea bar offers something different to the Pie and Chips Standard ) any i downed that and got chatting to New Mills asst Paul Armstrong who was a bit doubtfull of his sides chances as the had a few 1st teamers out throgh one thing and another he needent of worried cos the game kicked off and New Mills were well up for this and were 1 nil up inside 3 mins  Porya Ahmadi scoring from a Dougie Pringle pass. We hardly had time too catch our breath the pace New Mills were setting and 3 mins later the Millers were 2 up Pringle netting this time i hardly had time to text Garry Marsden who tipped New Mills as i was technically following Mossley so this scoreline was very true to form. And from a corner after 15 mins it was 3 nil the impressive Ahmadi netting again.Mossley were bewidered caught in New Mills tornado and could of quite easily gone in at Half Time 5 nil down . I headed for another brew and spotted Paul again i said you must be well chuffed he said he was cos New Mills have a habit of throwing 2 nil leads away .Mossleys half time team talk worked cos they were vastly improved and had New Mills on the backfoot from the off.Mind you their pressure didnt pay off until after the hour when Dougie Carroll scored. On 76 mins Substitute Charlie Anderson Scrambled another to bring a tense finale a text off Calvin who missed this for his family Holiday wanted an update i told him 3 – 2 New Mills and he was praying for a draw so hed see the replay however New Mills survived the onslought and won 3 -2 to progress just deserving i thought for their amazing 1st hal performance ( they couldnt maintain that pace for the full 90 ) .

Totally Wired Warrington Town v Mossley Fa Trophy Pre Lim 18/10/14

Bit late with this didnt think there was much interest . bit of an anti climax with last seasons Epic FA Cup Journey but here goes. Its turned into a 3 cups challenge for me Thats Fa Cup .Fa Trophy and then the Fa Vase to conclude . ( cheers Nathan ) it will be a depleted squad as Calvins away for the 1st round and Phil is still getting over his Arsenal hijacking our fa cup story .so the trophy wont live up to his standards Richey didnt want to commit being the older statesman last season took it out of him a bit. So itll be Mainly me with a few guest appearances i think. Anyway Warrington ive been here before (suprise suprise ) pre season friendly v Bury. City connection Mike Sheron youth team manager if my memory serves.id walked this route adjacent to Victoria Park en route to canteliever park home of the Yellows for a trip to see Radiohead a good few years back. Once i the ground i got my picture taken at the Entrance to the Turnstiles with the Welcome to Warrington Town ( to let the social media followers know ive landed ) Paid in and got my customary programme had a mooch around taking my photos from the Corner Flag ? ( dont know why i started this but it seemed as good a place as any ) trouble is every ground on this journey will have a corner flag view ( told you OCD in Abundance ) anyway having waited it seemed ages for the coffee shop to open i stood near the half way line waiting the arrival of Calvin ,i watched both teams warm up and Noticed Shaun Reid warringtons manager and from the back he dont half look like thier Peter . i looked around and there was Calvin and hed brought his Father in law Brian or was it Barry ( ill have to take notes lol ) along as company . I bought em a brew and grabbed a luke warm steak pie which Calvin quipped ” still on the diet Al ” cheeky f***** and over his shoulder just entered near the programme seller there it was the Cockney piss can had made it he said to send us off in style and in good old traditional fa cup stylee he was sporting his legendary Hangover. The game im afraid didnt live up to standards and Warrington seemed to share  a fa cup hangover similiar to Phils theyd recently Knocked Colwyn Bay out of the fa cup and were looking forward to meeting North Ferriby we felt cos Mossley were 2 up in a quarter of an hour and looking good value Warringtons backline marshalled by Craig Robinson another blast from my past With Ashton United were having a mare , a fact which wasnt lost on Shaun Reid who proceeded to use every swear word in the dictionary directed at his players opposing players the Mossley bench and all the officials but mainly the Linesman on his side of the pitch . His entertainment was i have to say better than what football warrington served up as the game finnished H/ T Warrington 0 Mossley 2  warrington didnt improve after the break although they did score late on to make the score look respectable and at one point me and Calvin thought  they would unjustly equalise and condem us to a replay it wasnt to be  full time Warrington Town 1 Mossley AFC 2  Attendance 131  , So im following the Mossley bandwaggon now a fate not lost on my mate Garry Marsden who backs every team in opposition cos im a bad luck charm its Legend ask Altrincham its beyond coincidence in fact ask my City Mates it wasnt the Arabs coming in that changed it it was me Doing one in to non league lol ;  )

Its That Time Again

Yes a Sense of duty was my one intention and an ugly beauty was my own invention.

Arsenal 3 v Hull 2 extra time Fa cup final. (National Express ) 83,345

Sorry im late ive had a hectic week on the fundraising front coupled by a longer journey home from this game. The day started meeting the sober Gooner Phil 8am at Manchester Piccadilly. We boarded the 8:15 to London Euston we already had decided the first 5 hrs before meeting Calvin and his Dad at wembley was up to Jordan .She really wanted to visit Camden and Carnaby Street not the traditional London tourist trip . we arrived in London at roughly 10:30 am and set about negotiating our route to Camden Market and Locks where after breakfast we did the Camden crawl Jordan noting the sights as we walked past the Barfly on our way upto the Roundhouse  we then doubled back on the opposite side to take in the markets entering at stables we thought youd be hard pushed to go thirsty or hungry here with a variety of foods from every nation.Jordans going to return to do the crawl by night with her mate Shelby one day soon. One box ticked we headed for Oxford Circus and Carnaby Street of which we walked the full length posing for pictures kindly taken by Phil.we took the side streets back and i noticed The London Palladium with its sign above Tonight at the London Palladium it was too good to miss a photo The Casual Hopper on the steps. After that we was surprised how time had flew so we headed of for the tube to the Jubilee line to take us to Wembley to meet Calvin at 2pm ish.We met at around 2:30 @ Pret but not before id acosted Norwegian TV to give em the story entertaining the gooners who were a captive audience and it was handshakes all round and good wishes on our achievement. And in my best Gallagheresque tones told them to get Hull beat cos City will then teach Arsene the rules of fair play in the Charity Shield ( cos were cheats dontcha know lol ).And then we were off to meet Cal and Rich Jordan relayed the tale as we walked to the square where we shared a few drinks we turned our thoughts to Phil and his team Arsenal who now carried his hopes for cup final glory .It was somewhat fitting and relaxed for the rest of us as neutrals we could enjoy the day Phil im afraid was in bits and at 2 nil to Hull devastated lol i said theyd scored too early and i was to be proved right.we stopped at the Bobby Moore for pictures then bought our over priced final programmes we shook hands and parted for opposite ends of the stadium both knowing this was job done all fourteen rounds.West Didsbury to Wembley via Workington , Stevenage etc fantastic , for me theres a tatoo and for us a t- shirt when i sort the design. The football im gonna leave this time cos did i tell you Calvins an Author yes indeed if you want to read a honest neutrals take on the fa cup final you could do no worse than buy ANOTHER SATURDAY AND SWEET FA by Calvin Wade it fantastic “im in it ” its got propper grammar and punctuation lol.  Me ill recount how bastard Arsenal  made me Phil and Jordan miss the last train back to mcr by 5 mins forcing us to endure a nightmare 7 hour coach journey on the hottest night of the year lol.with very little sleep we got home to Failsworth for 6:15 for breakfast and a shower and then back out for 10 am to set up for the charity gig and the celebration of the end of this brilliant madness. so far we have raised from the charity football ,gig and personal sponsorship over £7000 pounds for the Christie i cannot thank people enough from people who have helped, participated, hosted and donated i thank you one and all im truly amazed still its put my faith back in community . Its been so much fun ive had highs and lows throughout this but stayed on course and smashed it i keep gettin asked are we doing it again ?  Well do ya really wanna jump well do ya ? Not the Fa cup lol ive done that.to do it again means it finnished itll probably never end the gig will be anual as is the football this blog nah this is the last comunicae thanks for reading and your support Olly

Arsenal v Hull City FA Cup Final May 17th ( This Is The One ) Fortune & Glory

So after a thrilling 5 – 3 vivtory Hull City join Arsenal at Wembley for the FA Cup Final their 1st appearance i believe and guess what Gooner Phil only went to Uni there ( told you its Phils Story now ) think Calvins got links there aswell so it should swell the book. Right thats you lot updated weve now got a month to sought tickets out to complete this Journey ive got a few favours to pull in in Non League quarters so wish me luck ill update you on our success regarding this matter as and when see yous soon ( Any Spare tickets ill buy any spares )  RT

FA Cup Semi Final Wigan v Arsenal Att 82,185 ( Both Sides Are Even )

Well there we were at Wembley for our penultimate game me Calvin Rich and Phil hes a Gooner you know! With Arsenal overwhelming favourites against the current FA Cup Champions ( if there is such a thing ) a Wigan Thing lol.

In what was probably the Worst 1st Half since Doncaster v Stevenage we have seen it was nil nil at half time and youd struggle to see who was the premier team in this contest. The only chance of the half fell to Sonogo whos powerfull downward header was straight at Scott Carson in the Wigan goal. The 2nd half continued in much the same pattern as the first Arsenal seeming nervous all game and just couldnt find a rythm and their season appeared to be over when Mertesacker brought down the impressive Mcmanaman inside the box for a penalty to Wigan of which Gomez calmly slotted past Fabianski at the same end Ben Watson scored last season i may add.Wigan were superb in defence marshelled well by Crainey who in my oppinion was man of the match Wigan seemed to stiffle Arsenal at every attack but Arsenal were stung in to life when Giroud was introduced and they began to camp in Wigans half Sonogo struck a post and and Gibbs had a header brilliantly saved by Carson but pressure was mounting and Arsenal finally broke Wigans resistance on 82 mins when Mertesacker went from zero to hero with a stooping header to level the tie Full time 1-1 ( our first draw thatd balls the trains home up ) . The nerves were jangling in extra time in the Wigan end and non more so than Gooner Phil who held his head in his hands as Chamberlain struck the Wigan woodwork again on 110 mns Wigan sat back seemingly wanting penalties, ( its great being a neutral in a shootout ) Arsenal prevailed missing non of there 4 spot kicks. to win 4-2 so me and Phil had a mad dash to meet the 21.00 train back to Manc which we did with 25 mins to spare only for it to be delayed twice along the way arriving home at 00:12 so we now await the winners of Hull v Sheffield United in whats become Phils story.

FA Cup Semi Final Arsenal v Wigan Athletic ( Jumping Jack Flash )

Wigan v Arsenal update 12/04/14

I didnt realise i not updated you well we are the Saturday (traditionally ) which is something i suppose. But kick off time is 17.00 hrs im afraid its because the Worlds best cup competition dosent clash with the all singing all dancing hold on to your wallet (Premier League ) Its to be hopes that theres no extra time or penalties as im on the 21.00 train back to Manchester and i bet half of Wigan will be aswell lol. Tickets once again shouldnt be a problem once the Wigan season ticket holders and regulars are sorted out and just to clear up a small point which has been raised every ticket with the exception of the marvelous gesture by Stevenage Borough FC for their tie with Stourbridge as been funded by ourselves aswell as travel costs etc. Somebody thought that we had been Sponsored and had freebies all the way We Wish lol. If people know me part of my mantra of being a Groundhopper is paying my way so these clubs benefit in some small way ( its like me putting something back if you like ) Its one of the reasons im glad to be helping Droylsden FC who by their own admission are struggling at present financially. Ill remind you of the events  Mcsfc v Man City Legends is at Droylsden FC on Sunday April 27th 12 oclock kick off  the Legends team is subject to availibility but the 15 names Derek Partridge has given me every era from the 70s up is covered .Legends names will be released on one name for every 25 match ticket sales,so if you want the full team get buying the tickets . Then theres the Charity Gig under the headline of Cancer Beats its an all day music event on the 18th of May at the Streetbridge Inn both events are family orientated so bring the kids itll be great . The day before on the 17th May is Cup Final day and our area wont have vested interest with all our Local teams knocked out in earlier rounds. But Hang on you will have if youve been following our progress because thats when we hope to complete this Journey you never know you might be in front of the telly and a  face might recognise brightens up   your tv screen lol ( im not holding my breath after the BT Sport fiasco )   Then on the 19th my mate and travelling companion Calvin Wade releases his book of the Journey Another Saturday And Sweet F.A. There is a donation to the Christie with every book sale by the way. So there it is people  THE CASUAL HOPPER PRESENTS A WHOLE HOST OF EVENTS AND ALL IN AID OF THE CHRISTIE  . So Why Dont You Switch Off Your Television Set And Come Along And Do Something Less Boring Instead ! Share this Follow us RT .
